Take a soundwalk through Pittsburgh, in which you use intentional listening to reorient yourself to places and soundscapes that you might typically ignore. Throughout April, participants will be able to choose from a series of soundwalks in different parts of the city. Each soundwalk will include site-specific compositions that invite participants to actively reflect on the past, present, and future of Indigenous presence in Pittsburgh.
These compositions will instruct participants to move, make sounds, listen, and respond in various ways.
Site-specific compositions were created by students of Contemporary Soundscapes at CMU.
The Indigenous Pittsburgh Soundwalk will launch online on Sunday, April 11 at 2:30pm EST. Once the materials are published online here, participants may access them and complete the soundwalks on their own at any time.
